Hi,

Its an impressive component you are creating: thank you for it.

I installed and tested pro2store the last week, and I think it has lots of potential.

I did have some problems and a few questions most while working with it about the email templates:

1. I tried al short-codes that can be input into a so called pending email. And I could not get {order_date} , or {order_shipping_total} working: they present only the code itself not the values needed.

2. I get at the bottom of a pending email several hard-coded (?) snippets:
- the order summary, and
- a text block headed Customer information,
- a block Payment method,
- a nice footer.
All look nice but the first one does not: the order summary uses a table to format subtotal, shipping, taxes and total in two horizontal lines.

I read in this forum that a template that can be styled etc. is expected in the future, but for now my suggestion is to change the layout of this table to a vertical orientation (more or less as presented in the checkout page):
Subtotal ..... € amount
Shipping ..... € amount
Taxes ..... € amount
Total ..... € amount

In the difficult to style world of emails this is more easy on the eye and less accidentprone.

3. As I work In the Netherlands I have to deal with two VAT tariffs (21% for 'luxury goods', and 9& for 'some basic goods and services). I now can see only one setting for one VAT tariff. Is there a way to handle this?
Also, connected to this, there is a need to select a 'state' in the billing/shipping address, and set vat tariffs on the state level: the VAT tariffs are countrywide, there are no taxes laws or regulations that are only valid on the 'state' level. My question is: is there a way to deselect this state-list setting for the Netherlands?

Thank you again, and

Best Regards,
Paul

HI Paul Kleingeld

Many thanks for this feedback.

I will look at the shortcodes bugs again asap.

Transactional Emails are tricky... in fact email in general is tricky. I've tried to give some sort of decent template for them out of the box, but I've also built this into a plugin system to allow other developers to offer different email templates should they need to.

Re: Tax,

there is a way to set Tax on a national level, in fact this overrides all "state" level taxes. You can set all "states" within your country to "0" then set the national tax rate.

Honestly, I was unaware of the special tax system in the Netherlands... I'm only getting my head around how it works in my own country! :D And Josh Gilson is advising me on how the US system works!

At the moment, things like this will have to remain simplified, until we're at a point in the development where we can allow plugins etc to set tax rates and allow more complexity.

Hi Paul Kleingeld

I'm happy to report that the shortcodes issue is now fixed and tested and the fix will be part of the next update which is due this week.

The different VAT levels for different products exist in most EU countries, probably elsewhere too, so this is definitely something to develop in the future.

Hi,

Thank you for the new layout in emails for subtotal, shipping, tax, total. It is fixed now.

The shortcodes I still cannot get to work in the latest version of pro2store (1.1.3).
These are them:
{order_date} ,
{order_shipping_total}
{customer_email}
They present only the code itself not the values needed.

But maybe I am to fast in responding and is this for a future update.

As to the VAT taxes: I accept that is is a complex situation when you have to code worldwide for this.

i looked some more at the billing/shipping end the registration forms:
For the billing/shipping form: the states field for the Netherlands is not at all necessary (tax policy is nation wide, the 'states' level in the Netherlands is bureaucratic and not really relevant for buying and selling services or things). So it could very well be deleted: as any extra step not needed it only represents a break-off risk for a potential customer.
The same for all the extra lines for address information: a repeatable field would be nice-to-have in the billing/shipping form.

Asd to the registration form: this is nice and short. It could be made shorter still by removing the username from the form (which at the back could be still there only to have the same content as the email field: this has been done in some other componentd like community builder): shorter is better in my opinion.

best regards,
Paul
